Members of the Homer community will be meeting every third Thursday from 6:00- 8:00 PM at Kachemak Bay Campus to develop local solutions to the climate crisis.

Drawdown - the most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming - is  the manual  for this newly-formed and highly energized group is using. The book is filled with realistic, well-researched, and innovative solutions to global warming. There are eight chapters, each dedicated to to a category of solution, such as agriculture, wind, food.  Each meeting is dedicated to a discussion of a chapter in the book. The community and experts will discuss what solutions proposed in the that chapter would be best for to the Homer area. At the end of the series, we will chose one solution to put into action here in Homer.

The third level of climate action - community and middle out - is where we are focusing our energy. The objective is to uncover which of the top 100 solutions in Drawdown will make the most sense for us to tackle. Homework for next gathering: read chapter 1 of Drawdown - Energy - and think about which of the energy solutions you could imagine seeing come to fruition in Homer. Bonus points: bring a potluck dish to share.
